Adriana Davila Garay

Adriana Davila Garay is an Electrical Engineer I in Oceaneering’s Hanover, MD facility. She joined the company’s Oceaneering Technologies (OTECH) business segment in June 2023 after graduating from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a minor in business development.

“I was looking for a job where I could have hands-on experience applying the skills I learned from university as well as my theoretical skills.”

OTECH engineers perform diverse activities associated with the development and implementation of complex power and control systems for unique underwater robotic and electromechanical systems. Most projects are one-of-a-kind and help solve customers’ toughest challenges.

Adriana is mostly focused on engineering design including modifications to existing equipment, creating designs from scratch, and designing test equipment. She also prepares or modifies existing project procedures, and supports the manufacturing, testing, and assembly phases of projects.

“I learn something new every day. My days are never boring or the same. I could be in the shop testing one of my designs, lending supporting to another engineer’s design testing, in the office working on printed circuit board revisions, or cable wiring designs.”

As an engineer at the start of her career, Adriana is eager to take advantage of professional development activities.

“I went to a Women in Defense Conference last year, an event that empowers women in technology career fields. I had the opportunity to network with other women that are doing awesome stuff as well as learn ways to grow as a young professional in the defense field.”

Adriana’s advice to engineers is to explore the many opportunities at Oceaneering.

“Oceaneering is a great company with a collaborative environment where you can excel if you want to learn and apply your knowledge. I found a family here, a home away from my home in Puerto Rico, and I wouldn’t change it for anything.”
