History
Present in Brazil since the 1970s, and based in Rio de Janeiro since 1999, Oceaneering provides several services and technologies including diving, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and umbilicals. Brazil is one of the world’s biggest deepwater markets and holds a substantial base of installed FPSO units off its coastline, with continued growth expected in the next five years.
The Facilities
Oceaneering has three facilities in Brazil. A regional office in Rio de Janeiro, an operational Facility in Macaé and umbilical plant in Niteroi.
Areas of Expertise
Oceaneering provides integrity management services for FPSO owners and operators across all aspects of hull, moorings, and topsides. Through the use of risk assessment, data management, and inspection and maintenance scheduling, we can support our customers’ FPSO assets throughout their entire lifecycle.

Training
Oceaneering’s Training Center was built in 2009 to meet demand for ROV Services, ST&R and Survey employees. Brazil is the third major training hub for Oceaneering. The complex is equipped with four classrooms, a simulator room, electronic and hydraulic labs. Some of the courses offered include: Intro to ROVs, Electronics, Hydraulics and HSE. The Training Center manages a Competency Program to map out employee career development.
Research and Development
Oceaneering’s research and development team in Brazil defines and executes technology development projects in partnership with oil and gas operators, with the infrastructure to comply with ANP regulations for R&D spending. Oceaneering provides innovative solutions in the areas of robotics, inspection, intervention and data management.
Oceaneering typically works on projects that takes a product or service from proof of concept to a working system.
Examples:
- Flowline Remediation System (FRS) Testing
- Subsea tomography (radiography)
- Robotics
- ROV technologies
