To mark the International Day of the Girl Child, the Oceaneering Women’s Network (OWN) India Chapter collaborated with Child Rights and You (CRY) NGO to host a STEM-focused outreach program for school students. The event took place at both Chandigarh and Pune locations, welcoming over 60 students and their teachers.
The event began with an introductory session followed by a safety awareness discussion focused on road safety and responsible bike riding. The primary segment of the day was dedicated to introducing students to the fundamentals of STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics—through engaging demonstrations and discussions.
Students also toured Oceaneering offices, experiencing a first-hand view of the practical applications of technology and engineering in a professional setting. One of the highlights of the day was a hands-on robotics workshop. Working in small groups, students constructed basic robots using pre-assembled kits, encouraging teamwork, creative problem-solving, and technical engagement. An art session also followed, allowing them to engage in creative expression, adding a personal dimension to the day’s experiences.
This initiative served to inform, inspire, and ignite ambition—providing early exposure to STEM pathways and encouraging students to imagine themselves in roles that shape the future.
