From December 2023 through March 2024, a team of Oceaneering pipeline and corrosion engineers completed a comprehensive condition assessment and risk-based inspection (RBI) evaluation of 19 pipelines at a client’s fields in West Africa. The project aimed to mitigate risks and any potential loss of containment while providing the client with recommendations for any subsequent inspection or intervention.
Oceaneering conducted a comprehensive review and risk assessment using historical integrity management reports provided by the client.
The engineers used our internally developed RBI software platform, aligned with DNV RP F116 standards, to provide a holistic view of the 19 pipelines, installed in the early 1990s and of varying diameters ranging from 2 to 24 inches. The process involved:
Upon completion of a thorough RBI evaluation, we provided the client with a final report that identified high, medium, and low risk pipeline assets. The final report highlighted high-risk pipelines and provided guidance for future inspections and engineering challenges.
This quick-turnaround project, covering a total of 130 kilometers of pipeline, demonstrates Oceaneering’s efficiency and expertise in pipeline RBI assessments.
We provided the client and their senior management teams with valuable insights into the condition of their pipelines. Additionally, we recommended future inspection requirements, including frequency, methods, and locations.
We enabled the client to prioritize their inspection schedule and budget while maintaining safe operations. During workshops with the client’s operations and design team, we introduced various updates to operational procedures that enhance pipeline integrity, demonstrating our ability to implement immediate improvements that ensure continued operability and uptime.
