As part of an ongoing integrated and comprehensive integrity services contract with a major client, our engineers deliver pipeline integrity management services for two North Sea platforms and their associated pipelines.

Our dedicated team, including an embedded corrosion engineer and pipeline engineers, ensure the longevity and safety of these critical assets through corrosion fitness for service, risk-based inspection (RBI) assessment fitness for service, and upheaval bucking analysis engineering.

The infield and export pipelines, installed in 2016, require regular inspections and corrosion inhibition strategies to ensure their integrity over the 30-year design life.

A team of our global integrity engineering experts provides comprehensive analysis and support including:

  • Reviewing intelligent pigging data and performing fitness-for-service assessments on corroded pipeline sections
  • Conducting and updating RBI programs to define inspection frequencies that address high corrosion levels
  • Identifying and proposing solutions for field-specific challenges including high corrosion rates
  • Maintaining the pipelines’ anomaly register and integration into the client’s integrity management database
  • Using finite element analysis (FEA) to assess upheaval buckling (UHB) and recommending mitigation strategies
  • Proposing strategies to reduce the current rate of pipeline corrosion

Addressing 60 kilometers of pipeline, the project continues to benefit from Oceaneering's expertise.

Our integrated approach has helped the client manage their assets efficiently, with ongoing support for anomaly management and inspection planning. Our proactive measures and suggestions, such as chemical injection recommendations to reduce corrosion rates and details on appropriate rock dumping requirements to mitigate UHB, ensure operational safety and increase the pipelines’ operational lifespan.
