In June 2024, we successfully completed a significant mooring line inspection scope for two floating production, storage, and offloading vessels located off the coast of Guyana.
The inspections were required to maintain regulatory compliance and confirm the integrity of the assets. Addressing 36 mooring lines with a combined length of 110,080 meters and spanning water depths from 30 meters to 1,680 meters, the project required significant collaboration between the client, third parties, and Oceaneering business units, highlighting our commitment to excellence in subsea operations.
The comprehensive coverage of such a quantity of mooring lines required seamless communication and collaboration between all parties.
Extensive resources and seamless collaboration among all parties involved. Furthermore, personnel and equipment needed to be mobilized quickly to align with availability on a contracted vessel, reducing the anticipated preparation time from several months to just over four weeks. This rapid mobilization added another layer of complexity, highlighting the team's ability to adapt and execute efficiently and safely under tight timelines.
Having been notified of an available window in the inspection vesselâs schedule, our project team responded with a plan to expedite mobilization, including visa requirements for personnel, to optimize delivery of the inspection scope.
Two Oceaneering Millennium Plus remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) completed 730 wet hours over the projectâs timeline and were deployed simultaneously in deeper water depths or where more detailed inspection was required. The ROVs were equipped with cleaning tools capable of removing marine growth and corrosion, ensuring accurate data capture on the linesâ 128-millimeter diameter studless chain links.
The offshore subsea robotics team benefited from inspecciĂłn remota support provided by our asset integrity management engineers located in Houston. The ability to leverage superior remote connectivity and vast internal experience enabled continuous, 24-hour operations while reducing HSE exposure, enhancing efficiency, and reducing mobilization costs and personnel on board requirements. The remote inspection service also enabled the team to overcome visa timeline restrictions that would have affected the projectâs timeline.
Our collaboration with the end client and two other service providers was pivotal to the success of the project, reinforcing the importance of communication and buy-in to complete subsea operations efficiently.
The reliability and efficiency of our TecnologĂa ROV and the skill of our teams supported 730 hours of wet time without equipment breakdowns or safety incidents. Despite the shortened preparation period, the project was completed close to the estimated schedule, demonstrating our ability to mobilize and execute under tight timelines.
We provided detailed reports, including anomalous finding reports, video, and images, to the client, enabling their team of marine engineers to assess and address concerns effectively. This achievement underscores our commitment to excellence in subsea operations and is demonstrated by our capability to deliver integrated solutions that achieve operational goals even in the most challenging environments.
