Oceaneering recently completed year 12 of an ongoing SOLV program for a major energy producer and their North Sea assets.

Deviating from the prescriptive and reactive nature of many programs, the client was interested in using a proactive approach to streamline their fabric maintenance process, enabling them to ensure compliance and the integrity of their assets, while also reducing costs.

Using our proprietary SOLV Workspace, our team of Fabric Maintenance engineers has addressed these challenges by providing a structured, area-based maintenance management solution and a comprehensive data repository that drives the client’s fabric maintenance planning, prioritization, budgeting, and execution of activities.

Maintaining aging assets in a harsh offshore environment demands precision and foresight.

Repetitive maintenance cycles and evolving industry regulations require accurate forecasting and structured data management to avoid unnecessary expense, risk, and operational disruptions.

Additionally, minor and major modifications to an asset or installation can render prior maintenance plans outdated, creating the need for dynamic updates to ensure comprehensive oversight. The client was interested in using SOLV to improve visibility of assets’ condition, streamlining their fabric maintenance process while reducing costs and ensuring compliance.

Our Plan

Oceaneering deployed the SOLV Workspace, a data-driven software solution designed in collaboration with key industry stakeholders to provide complete control over fabric maintenance activities.

This particular roll-out of the solution included all relevant client stakeholders during the development phase. The team worked to complete a SOLV study for each asset, establishing a baseline reference and condition statements for all coated surfaces.

What is SOLV?

With its first module covering coated surfaces developed in 1994, SOLV is a centralized platform that integrates data from customer databases, field surveys, and technical drawings. The platform’s second module, focusing on insulated objects, supports tailored data collection and analysis to manage diverse asset maintenance needs. SOLV offers real-time dashboards for visualization and reporting, enables the export of information for seamless integration with customer CMMS tools to streamline documentation, and provides the flexibility to develop tailored applications that technicians and inspectors can use to update data directly from site surveys.

Recent advancements include the integration of Oceaneering’s Vision platform into fabric maintenance delivery, providing enhanced predictive capabilities and improved decision-making through visual data analytics.

SOLV also supports the development of tailored applications that enable technicians and inspectors to update data directly from site surveys, ensuring real-time accuracy and streamlined workflows. These applications are customizable to specific project requirements, further increasing operational flexibility.
