Steven Adamczyk is the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Advisor for Oceaneering in Panama City, Florida. He joined the company in 2007 as an operator in umbilical manufacturing.

Steven served in the U.S. Air Force (USAF) as a Fire Protection Specialist (firefighter) from 1981-2001, with deployments in Alaska, Honduras, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

During his last four years of service, he was an instructor at the Louis F. Garland Department of Defense (DOD) Fire Academy at Goodfellow Air Force Base (AFB) in San Angelo, Texas.

Steven led a rigorous 14-week Firefighter Apprentice course, teaching recruits from all branches of the U.S. military, DOD civilians, and foreign nationals. He retired as an E-6 Technical Sergeant.

During his 20 years in the USAF, Steven took advantage of every opportunity to further his education and receive formal training in his field. The skills he learned, and the values instilled by the USAF-integrity first, service before self, excellence in all we do-helped make his transition to a civilian career easy.

One practice, in particular, remains a top priority for Steven.

“As a firefighter, adherence to safety was of utmost importance. When I retired from the Air Force, I carried that value to civilian life.”

His dedication to safety aligns with Oceaneering’s commitment to the safety, health, and well-being of coworkers, contractors, customers, and the communities where it operates. Steven appreciates the spirit of teamwork and collaboration at Oceaneering.

“I work with a great group of people with different backgrounds and varying levels of experience. Our ability to function at a high level and accomplish jobs is like a well-oiled machine.”

He advises veterans considering civilian careers at Oceaneering to have confidence in their training.

“The military gives you the tools and ability to adapt to any situation. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone when applying for positions.”

“Oceaneering offers excellent opportunities for advancement.”
