Houston, Texas \u2013 Oceaneering International, Inc., announces today that its Freedom\u2122 Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV)<\/a> has been honored with the Innovation Award at TotalEnergies\u2019 2024 Supplier Day.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The award recognizes Freedom\u2019s contribution to advancing subsea robotics and fostering industry best practices to improve operational efficiency, including by reducing carbon emissions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This award celebrates a <\/span>decade-long collaboration<\/span><\/a> among Oceaneering, TotalEnergies, and other energy industry operators to develop an advanced, resident-capable underwater robotic solution that can be tailored for use across industries, including energy and defense. <\/span><\/p>\n

The collaboration ensured that the Freedom vehicle and its autonomous behaviors would meet customer specifications and requirements. The Freedom\u2122 AUV, which has been commercialized since 2023, showcases innovative autonomous behaviors and operational excellence in subsea operations, including undocking, docking, obstacle avoidance, precision payload placement, survey, inspections, and transit.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Martin McDonald, Senior Vice President of Subsea Robotics at Oceaneering, commented:<\/span> \u00a0\u201cWe are deeply honored to receive this recognition from TotalEnergies. This award is a testament to the strong, collaborative relationship we\u2019ve cultivated over the years. In October 2024, Oceaneering <\/span>was awarded a contract<\/span><\/a> from the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) of the U.S. Department of Defense to build a Freedom\u2122 AUV, enabling Oceaneering to deliver commercial technology driven by energy industry needs to address subsea security needs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In May 2024, <\/span>Freedom completed a pipeline inspection industrial pilot<\/span><\/a> with TotalEnergies, demonstrating its ability to deliver high-quality commercial pipeline inspections in less time and with reduced emissions as compared to existing methods, contributing to TotalEnergies ambition to be Net Zero by 2050.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Freedom\u2122 AUV exemplifies Oceaneering commitment to working with forward-thinking operators, including TotalEnergies, to deliver new technologies that improve efficiency by reducing time and costs, lower emissions, and advance a more sustainable future.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
