This remote ROV operation milestone builds on previous remote operations from shore and advances safer, more sustainable offshore execution.<\/em><\/p>\n

Maca\u00e9, Brazil \u2014 April 20, 2026 \u2014 Oceaneering has announced that its Unterwasser-Robotik<\/a> segment and Brazilian subsidiary<\/a>, Marine Production Systems do Brasil LTDA (MPS), successfully tested our onshore remote operations center<\/a> (OROC) capabilities, piloting a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) located on a drilling rig offshore Brazil. This operation was conducted from the OROC in Maca\u00e9 in support of Petrobras\u2019s offshore activities.<\/p>\n

During the operation, an Oceaneering pilot remotely controlled the ROV from the Maca\u00e9 base while it performed live field activities onboard a drilling rig. Petrobras representatives observed the operation in person.<\/p>\n

This milestone builds on Oceaneering\u2019s established remote operations experience in Brazil. Following the opening of its Maca\u00e9 OROC in 2024, the company successfully performed remote ROV operations for Petrobras<\/a>, controlling an ROV operating from a vessel offshore Brazil.<\/p>\n

The successful execution was made possible through close collaboration between Oceaneering and Petrobras to ensure secure, low\u2011latency offshore connectivity. The solution leveraged low earth orbit (LEO) satellites and required a complex integration process to establish a secure bridge between the data networks of all companies, while adhering to their respective cybersecurity policies.<\/p>\n

Daniel Regufe, Integrated Safety and Remote Well Operations Manager, Petrobras, said: \u201cThis first test represents an important step forward in the expansion of remote operations at Petrobras, demonstrating the maturity of the technology and the potential for more integrated operational models between offshore assets and onshore support centers.\u00a0From my perspective, solutions like this deliver tangible benefits, particularly in reducing personnel exposure to risk, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and improving operational efficiency. They also expand the capacity to support operations and contribute to greater accessibility and inclusion through remote work models.\u201d<\/p>\n
