Inspection Management
Oceaneering has extensive experience in development and delivery of Inspection and Integrity Management (IIM) services.
Oceaneering’s proactive approach seeks to encompass all elements of IIM into the one integrated process thereby contributing and supporting the client’s business objectives:
- The safety and environmental standards of the installation to be maximised
- The overall integrity of the installation to be assured to a level as high as reasonably practicable
- Plant availability to be maximised
- Costs to be minimised commensurate with the agreed scope and safety standards
- Duplication of effort and interfaces minimised
- Full support to the client’s Business Plan
The range of services illustrated are flexible and can be tailored to provide a range of options based on:
- A fully integrated and managed independent inspection and integrity service for all the services illustrated as a on-stop facility e.g. provision of inspection and integrity engineers, NDT technicians and equipment, metallurgical investigation, data systems etc.
- NDT services for major, or one-off, surveys of process plant and equipment to meet specific needs or problems ranging from the provision of conventional techniques and technicians, to specialised applications.
- Single activity services delivery.
Oceaneering IIM provide specific discipline management processes and personnel that provide asset integrity assurance schemes that identify the ’systems’, documentation, limits and responsibilities for maintaining the integrity of the asset pressure systems, structures and pipelines.
These processes can demonstrate that a continuous assessment has been applied through design, construction, maintenance and operations to ensure that ’systems’ are managed safely. The processes incorporate the implementation of inspection, testing and monitoring schemes to maintain mechanical integrity and also include ‘fitness-for-service’ assessment where anomalies are identified.

- IIM services can be provided for the full life of field or at any point along the cycle:
Design/Project phase, to assist in optimising plant design, layout and material selection/performance based on the requirements for future inspections. Introduce risk based inspection principle and strategies for life of field operations and the capture of all related information to initiate appropriate systems.
Manufacture/Vendor phase, to ensure fabrication and manufacture compliance, collection and collation of appropriate documentation and certification for safety critical plant and equipment.
Construction phase, to ensure compliance with design and project specifications, complete base line data and commissioning inspections to set future inspection requirements and frequencies.
Operations phase, to monitor and certify safety critical plant and equipment. This is based on the application of risk based principles to focus inspection activities on the highest risk plant and maximise production by the application of non invasive techniques.
