Adele Luta is the xEVA (extra-vehicular activity) Integration Project Manager and the Human Systems Business Development Manager at Oceaneering Space Systems headquartered in Texas. Adele finds working in a multidisciplinary team the most rewarding part of her positions.

“In this role, I am one piece of a very dedicated team of industry and government personnel. And, of course, working to return to the Moon is very exciting.”

Adele joined the Oceaneering team because our corporate values reflect her own.

“Oceaneering’s values align with my professional and personal beliefs – innovation, safety, and a high level of quality. As a SCUBA diver and private pilot, I love the sense of exploration but always with safety and checklists in mind.”

Her previous experiences on her journey to Oceaneering were varied.

“I like to think of it as – ‘Not all who wander are lost’ by J.R.R. Tolkien. I followed paths I was passionate about and opportunities I found too interesting to pass up.”

The biggest challenge for Adele has been combining safety and best practices with innovation.

“It is a challenge that I really love, but it can be difficult to balance. Especially when failure means loss of crew or mission. You never have all the data, so risk is always part of the equation.”

Adele said that the next generation of women in technology should not be afraid to be bold.

“Never be afraid to sit at the table. Especially, if you are one of the key experts in the room. As an introvert, it took me a while to realize this.”
