Oceaneering Inspection has completed an initial contract awarded for onsite Non Destructive Testing and Inspection (NDT) during the construction of London's new Wembley Stadium. The new stadium features an Arch that spans 315m and rises 133m forming the longest single span roof structure in the world.

Multi-skilled Oceaneering Inspection Technicians successfully completed NDT and Inspection during the site welding of 500 steel tubes, referred to as straws, that formed 13 Arch modules (each 20.5m in length). The modules were then welded together and attached to giant 70-ton hinges using the two pencil end sections that form the Arch.

Members of Oceaneering's Rope Access Team stood ready to ascend the Arch if required while the massive structure was gently maneuvered and lifted to its final 112-degree position. Oceaneering employs over 200 rope access technicians who work primarily for the Oil and Gas industry.

For a second contract phase, Oceaneering Inspection will perform NDT and Inspection of site welding during construction of the Bowl and Prismatic Perimeter Truss followed by the Roof Structure as contracted by Hollandia BV.
