March 29, the National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) recognized the joint
efforts of Oceaneering International, Inc. (OII) and ChevronTexaco for their
commitment and pioneering approach to safety on the Genesis Riser Guide Modification
Project by presenting the companies with the 2003 Safety in Seas Award. Established
in 1978 and sponsored by Compass Publications, Inc., the award recognizes excellence
among those who have contributed to improving the safety of life offshore.
NOIA President Tom Fry stated, "We applaud ChevronTexaco and Oceaneering for rising to meet the unique challenges inherit in the offshore while maintaining a truly remarkable standard of safety. The expertise and inventiveness demonstrated in this project will serve as a benchmark for the industry." Operating 24 hours a day for 422 days, OII's divers achieved:
