Oceaneering International, Inc., formed the Oilfield Projects Group (OPG) as a turnkey marine contracting organization to contract, manage, engineer, plan, and execute small to mid-size deepwater projects utilizing Oceaneering resources with the primary focus on the installation of subsea tiebacks in the Gulf of Mexico. OPG focuses on managing, scheduling, and operating Oceaneering's two Dynamically Positioned (DP-2) Ocean Intervention Multiservice Vessels (MSV's).

The powered reel is designed with an integrated reel. The spoolable area of the reel matches specifications of a typical 8.6m reel. The reel can pull 32 tons at the drum and 12.5 tons at the flange. Partitions can be added as required.
Oceaneering has a reel lay system for pipelines that can accommodate up to 4” flowlines. The system consists of using an installation reel, rollers and straightener. The installation reel holds the products and the pipe tension. The pipe is routed through a set of rollers over the top of the vessel A-frame. The pipe is then sent through a tower that has a pipe straightener. The straightener pivots and is mounted to rails which allow the whole straightener to slide. This configuration allows for large variances in lay angle.
CAROUSEL has capabilities of laying or retrieval with 10,000 pounds tension using the caterpillar.
Short lengths of one layer can be retrieved with a tension of 22,000 pounds using the CAROUSEL with the caterpillar disengaged.
CAROUSEL may pay out without using the caterpillar allowing it to be incorporated with a conventional lay reel and laid simultaneously from the same control booth.
CAROUSEL system includes two separate power packs for autonomous operations of CAROUSEL and caterpillar with detachable control panel, yet also provides a back up power supply.
CAROUSEL design allows complete operations to be performed on a variety of different vessels reducing the cost and adding flexibility.
The 300 ton Under Roller System is configured to apply drive torque to four independently driven base mounted rollers. The rollers and their corner block support systems are interconnected at the side by a fabricated beam system and at the front and rear by twelve inch pipe spools. Each side beam has a provision for attachment of the Pull-Down System. Both front and rear pipe spools act as entrance guides for product as it is spooled on a reel, and act a conduit for hydraulic lines that cross the unit. Hydraulic cylinders are integral to the system to lift reels from their shipping cradles. The under roller system can be assembled around a reel and utilize the integral lift system to lift the reel, thus eliminating the need for heavy lift cranes.
