BP Chooses Pumping Solution

Facing recovery of a two-mile injection line in the Gulf of Mexico, BP opted for a pumping remedy to dissolve an ice hydrate at 5600 fsw in a steel tube umibilical. Utilizing the Ocean Service and the vessel’s Hydra® Millennium 225 hp ROV system, Oceaneering engineered the solution that removed the plug and quickly renewed normal injection operations following a short two-day intervention span.
Employing Oceaneering subsea tooling and pumping hardware to bleed pressure in the plugged line from 2300psi ambient to a minimal 44psi ambient, the plug was pulled. A photo of the final pressure showing on the gauge and the sight glass full of visible ice recorded the project’s success.
